It has been three years since I have written a blog but for some reason I feel it is time to get up off the couch and contribute what little knowledge I have and ALL the opinions I have in this very crazy world we live in. I am going to just chat about anything that is on my mind at the time whether it is something or nothing. I hope you will comment and join me as we go upon this journey. ALL are invited! If you don't want to comment, that's okay also. I like talking to myself! :0)Yes, I answer myself too!
I watched an interesting movie on channel 10(CBS)last night that was a true story about the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon. I can't remember his first name but the last name was Wilson. The movie centered more around the wife, Lois Wilson, and how hard it was for her to live with an alcoholic husband. It was in the 1920's and you have to remember most women stayed home and only the men worked therefore they would meet at a Speak easy after work and get smashed. Through all those years, after losing everything they ever had on more than one occasion, Lois stood by her husband until finally, after 20+ years, he realized he could stay sober as long as he was talking to other men about it and hence started the first meeting and then wrote the manuscript that they use till this day. Lois, meanwhile realized that the wife's needed someone to talk to also and founded Al-Anon.It was presented by Hallmark and I always love their greeting card commercials. I got a lot out of that movie. Although I have never been to a AA meeting or function, I have had my own personal demons of addiction to deal with over the years. I don't that you always have to have the exact same situation to understand it but you will be able to identify with the emotions.
I'll end this blog with this saying:
The heart understands the way the mind can not
Lois Wilson
